8 Months

Lyla James and Mary Connor, y'all are 8 months old today!!

Lyla James, this is the look you get on your face whenever you see my camera!

Honestly, I feel like these monthly posts are coming faster and faster.

You both are so much fun these days and it seems like every day you all learn to do something new.

Lyla James, you learned to clap and it's the cutest thing- arms completely straight in front of you and a look of sheer concentration on your face.    You also wave hi and bye- with your hand turned towards you.  You are quite the social butterfly these days and do all of your tricks when someone talks to you.

Mary Connor, I think you will be crawling very soon!  You have figured out how to get from sitting to your stomach and then get up on all four's.  You have become a little skeptical of strangers unless Daddy or I are holding you and then you are fine.  Your teeth have still not come through and they don't seem to be bothering you as much, which is good because I am apparently allergic to the great teeting lotion.

You both are sleeping really well at night and nap great during the day.  You both love to sit and play with the stacking rings, wooden blocks, and your other toys.
Y'all eat solids 3 times per day:  cereal/veg/fruit for breakfast, yogurt/fruit for lunch, cereal/veg/fruit for dinner
Plus, you both nurse/ have a bottle 5 times per day.

We love you both so much and can't believe you all have been with us 8 months....
time does fly when you are having fun!

Last night Anna Cate and attended the Father-Daughter Dance at our school- their second in a few months.  She loves getting dressed up and having her Daddy all to herself for the night.

Brian and I had a date at home- take-out Olive Garden and hours of Super Mario Brothers.  Who knew all of the hours I logged on the Nintendo during my teen years would be a bonding tool with my son?  He loves that I know the "language" of the game!

This evening I took AC and B to a friend's birthday party from school....we all had the best time and now I want to live on a farm.

The poor geese being terrorized by 30 hyper 6 year olds

Anna Cate and her friends fished for hours.

Love this girl who never flinches at putting a worm on the hook (I almost passed out) and then strikes this pose with her catch!

Brian never left the paddle boat and spent the longest time playing with baby chicks.

All kinds of randomness.....

Today, I have hit a wall.

It might have something to do with the fact that for some reason I keep waking up at 4am and can't go back to sleep or it may be that I have completely torn apart our living room and now I'm overwhelmed with all of the projects I plan to do in there or it could also be that I had a diet coke last night at 7pm and stayed up way too late watching Swamp People and Real Housewives...I am a sucker for reality t.v.

Kelly's Show Us Your Life topic this week is Father's Day and Mother's Day ideas.  I am borrowing a  friend's idea and letting Anna Cate and Brian each choose an outing they want to do with Todd and I'll make the arrangements to make it happen.  I'm not going to say what they have chosen since he reads my blog....hi, honey!

Yesterday I met up with a friend of a friend who just found out she is expecting twins.  I had the best talking with her and answering questions about double strollers and sleep schedules (whatever those are) .

I am resisting the urge to go fabric and mirror shopping until I manage to get some sort of order back in the living room....my reward to myself.

Hope y'all have a great weekend

Updates in the Kitchen

I have wanted to paint these cabinets since we moved in almost 4 years ago.
While they are a pretty wood, I just felt like they were too dark for our small kitchen and made the space seem dark and closed in.  Plus, there was no back splash and I am a messy cook and the walls under the cabinets had taken a beating.
I was a little anxious to get started and didn't take the time to get true before pictures. But if you look beyond these 3 sweet faces, you can see the dark wood cabinets.

We didn't even bother to remove the doors from the cabinets because the hinges don't show from the outside and a little paint on them isn't going to bother me.  We used Behr Paint and Primer in one....love this product and I now use it on everything.  I think we ended up doing about 4 coats of paint and it took us a full weekend.

So much better...why have we waited almost 4 years to do this???

I love the bead board backsplash.  It was super inexpensive and goes great with our 1920's house.

The breakfast nook doesn't look a lot different, but I painted and moved this rug in from another room.  The jury is still out on how it will do with 4 little one's eating here daily.

Monday, Monday

We had a great weekend: lots of projects going and a few completed, a spur-of-the-moment visit from Papa and Nana, and beautiful weather that meant AC and B could play in the sprinkler.

I finished up painting and cleaning  in the kitchen and have almost gotten the room put back together...I love the way it turned out and will post pictures later today or tomorrow.  I'm hoping to get started in the living room today.

AC finally lost her front tooth after letting it dangle there for days.  The tooth fairy visited last night and left the tooth per AC's directions.  She plans to make a necklace out of her baby teeth to wear on her wedding day...won't that be quite the statement piece?

Linking It Up

How's that for a corny title?  I try, people, I try.

Wow, where did March go?  Is it just me or are the months flying by?
April 1-8 is the Ultimate Blog Party at Five Minutes for Mom.  If you are visiting from the party, welcome!  This blog is my attempt to record our crazy, wonderful life with 2 sets of twins- 6 year old b/g and 7 month old g/g.

Kelly is again hosting Show Us Your Life Friday's and this week's topic is churches.  We are members of First Baptist Church of Rome.  When we were visiting Rome trying to decide if this was where we wanted to relocate, we visited First Baptist.  We felt so at home and it ultimately helped us to decide on moving here.  It is such an amazing church and we have been blessed by so many of it's members.

If These Walls Could Talk

Anyone else miss that show on HGTV?

Today, I had my own old house experience.  While cleaning out the pantry in the kitchen, I found this photograph tucked above the door frame.

I have no idea who it is or when the photo was taken, but isn't that so cool?
Todd is a bit freaked out that I framed it, but I love it!
